just watched
tulad ng dati at the up film center (it's actually called cine adarna now) last night.
one word:
astig.
i was never really a big fan of
the dawn. they started when i was still in my mother's womb, so their comeback wasn't such a big deal for me. but after watching the movie, i wanted to go out and buy all the the dawn albums i could lay my hands on. sobrang galing nila sa movie that i immediately developed a liking for their music. and not just that, they were actually good actors. hey, who would have thought that a rock band would have that much heart when it comes to acting? astig. their acting didn't look fake. they were actually better than some "professional" actors we see on tv. especially
buddy. grabe. mahal ko na si buddy. haha.
galing ni
mike sandejas, the guy who wrote, produced and directed the entire thing. he was there during the showing, and he was really quite nice. you actually wouldn't think that he's a director. anyway, back to the movie. ganda nung concept. wouldn't want to give away the story since it might be shown commercially on october, so i wouldn't post any spoiler here. ganda rin nung shots and editing, especially nung part na nandun na si teddy. and speaking of teddy diaz... can there be a more perfect guy for the role than
ping medina? c'mon. my friends and i were momentarily confused when a video of teddy was shown after the movie. we actually thought it was still ping in all his white face makeup glory.
i suck at movie criticism so i will just end by saying that this movie is so worth the best picture award at the cinemalaya film fest (even though i haven't watched any other cinemalaya film this year). aside from that, it was such a treat seeing all my favorite music people at the screening.
raimund marasigan. ebe dancel. myrene academia. the guys from
urbandub.
mong alcaraz. well, i didn't really see him, so that part sucked big time.
but the really best part?
the dawn playing after the show. amazing. kahit ang daming tao, nasa harap na harap pa rin kami, sa harap ni francis. grabe, that guy's amazing when it comes to guitar playing. and buddy. ang galing. his fingers were just flying all over his bass. amazing.
mike said the movie's gonna be shown commercially sometime in october. so if you guys missed the cinemalaya screenings, watch it this october. it'll be worth your money. sobra.
p.s. my favorite scene (don't worry, this isn't a spoiler!) was when buddy saw raimund (yes, he had a cameo! along with imago.) during a gig. while they were talking, some guys came up. one said,
"uy, eraserheads!". and my favorite line? guy 2:
"nasaan si ely?!" hahahahahahaha.
